Acesso 802.1x
For the 802.1x access the following requirements are needed:
- Wireless hardware component that supports 802.11b (see www.weca.net ).
- Login user on the UL authentication system.
- Windows XP/Pocket PC(*) operating system.
VPN Access
To access through VPN to the wireless net, it is necessary to have at least the following requirements:
- Login user on the UL authentication system.
- Windows XP/2000 (*) operating system.
- 802.1x connection previously established.
* Nota: Eventually it can be possible to establish a connection on other operating systems, but the ones mentioned before were tested and approved by our technicians."eduroam", when nothing seems to work... (Windows XP)!!!
There are quite a few reasons, here are a couple of them:
--> 802.1x protocol is not being consider (EAPOL-START is not starting) --> Our technicians must install again the operating system
--> Some times, after several attempts without a successful login (incorrect password or login) to "eduroam", even though it is configured, it just disappears on the visible nets --> There are quite a few ways to solve this issue:: - restart - delete "eduroam" and configure it again - Unplug/Plug the wireless net component
Note: Keeping in mind all the tests made and the solutions found until now, we can in the near future give other alternative solutions. Therefore, here are a couple of possible solutions for the previous problems detected.
Reported issues
--> WinXP --> It was reported that it was impossible to get an authentication on eduroam when Panda Anti-Virus is installed. - It was solved with Panda Anti-Virus uninstalled --> --> Mac OS --> --> PDAs --> It is already available the certificate that must be installed to access to eduroam net in these equipments, you can download here (zip). Soon it will be available an example on how to make the required configurations on section "Configuration".
