The Geophysics Institute Prince D. Luíz was integrated in the Universidade de Lisboa in 1911. It collects, registers and treats scientific data in the fields of seismology and meteorology.
The institute develops national and international research projects in the fields of seismology, geophysical prospecting, atmosphere and an actinometrical science, offers advanced training to researchers, keeps the geophysical and meteorological equipment of its fixed and mobile stations, prepares and publishes reports on seismology and meteorology data. The institute receives about 900 visitors per year.
